What is your favorite cardinal direction?

The weekend

Well New Orleans was fun, in theory. I hadn't been since pre-Katrina, so I thought being all touristy would be kind of fun. It kind of just turned out frustrating. We had to follow my Mom's husband, who drives like a maniac. He's a sixty-something year old man, and he drives like a teenage boy who just got his license.

No, seriously. He does.

So that was stressful. Not that I was driving, but just watching him drive and trying to keep up with him was kind of exhausting.

Then, the parking. He would just take the first spot available and leave us to wander around, hoping we'd find something close. That happened like, three times.

After finally finding the restaurant, which was delicious, we only spent about twenty or so minutes at the WWII museum. We found my grandfather's brick pretty easily, but only because the rest of my family went before the restaurant to find it.

I kind of wanted to tour the museum. Although American wars aren't really my cup of tea for history, I haven't been since my junior year of high school and I did kind of want to see it.

But the impending doom of torrential downpours to come kind of made me glad we didn't stay.

After the downpour of rain, the drive home was a lot better. We didn't have to follow crazy old man driver home.

That night was a lot of fun! We had all our friends over and played Apples to Apples and drank Bloody Marys. I'm glad I kind of have a social life again! There was a time there I just kind of sat around all weekend playing World of Warcraft (level 85 paladin, what, what!). Anyway, so yeah. Social life, yay!

Ooh! I got an interesting e-mail from theknot.com. Usually I just delete their newsletters, because they're annoying, but the title "50 Honeymoon Ideas" really attracted me. Honeymoon is kind of like the thing we need to pick. Like, within the next month.

Most of them were beaches, or ridiculous European vacations that we probably can't afford. (Although I really wanted to go to London.) And I'm NOT a beach person. At all.

So I found a place called Banff, Canada in the Alberta territory. Never heard of it. I know what you're thinking, "Canada!? In January? Girl, you crazy." Actually, theknot.com suggests visiting Banff during the wintertime is the best time to go. And there's a castle that's a hotel/ski resort. I mean, come on.

Since I've never seen proper snow, I think this is a fantastic idea. I'll probably break or sprain something while attempting to ski or snowboard, but  I suppose that adds to experience, right?

I also found a place call Bar Harbor, Maine. Seemed interesting. But I've been to Maine before. Yeah, it's pretty, but I want to go somewhere I've never been. Enter Canada.

I kind of always wanted to go there. Drive, actually. I'd love to make a roadtrip out of it. But it takes a day and fifteen hours, non stop.

So that's something to ponder. I'd just have to renew my passport. I was twelve when I got it. Time for an update.

Is it sad that the only thing I'm really, really excited about is planning the honeymoon? I could really care less about flowers or napkins or table arrangements or whatever else. I'm so indecisive. "Yeah, that's fine." "Sure, I like purple. Why not."

Sometimes I think eloping would be easier. But my mother would kill me. Plus, I'm too girly to do that. I want a proper wedding.

*le sigh*

Well, I guess that's it. The rest of my night is filled with a glass of wine, Hoarders, and Intervention on A&E.

Until next time!
